Teaching With Nearpod

2 Credits
Nearpod is an award-winning, interactive mobile-learning platform that engages students with images, videos, quizzes, polls, drawing boards, game-based quizzes, virtual field trips, VR and other collaboration tools. Teachers can create their own interactive lessons or access thousands of other premade lessons or search for lessons by grade, subject, or CCSS-aligned standard. Nearpod can be used in the classroom or with remote instruction. As students complete assessments, the teacher can interact and provide support with individuals in real time, and Nearpod automatically creates a report on student performance for each assessment. Nearpod is designed to integrate with Zoom, Google Classroom, and most LMS platforms. It partners with many online educational leaders like Desmos, PhET, Flocabulary, Breaking the Barrier, Newsela, and many others.

This course is applicable towards the Classroom Technology Integration Certificate and Student Engagement Certificate.

Rob Carey

I believe that teachers are the backbone of society, and that education plays a major role in shaping a culture’s values. I made a career change to education after four years of active duty in the army and two years working in aircraft. For the past 25-30 years, I have had the privilege of teaching in a variety of settings in public and private schools, charter schools, and over half of my career teaching overseas in international settings. My educational interests include integrated curriculum development, art instruction, classroom climate, teacher care, educational technology, and Biblical integration.
